How to Keep Hair Braiding Styles Looking Great

How can you keep braid hairstyles healthy and stylish even if you exercise regularly? Sweat damage can cause your hair to break, shed, or become dull or dry. But you can prevent this damage with the following hair care tips:

1. Shampoo once every 1 or 2 weeks with a diluted clarifying shampoo applied to your scalp directly or use a braid shampoo that can be sprayed on to your scalp. Once the shampoo is applied, use your fingertips to massage your scalp, which helps to remove any dirt and oil. Rinse the shampoo out thoroughly.

Be sure to allow your braids to dry before you go to bed to avoid hair tangles. Be sure to re-braid any braids that have become loose.

2. After you work out, swab your braids with an antiseptic like witch hazel and apply leave-in conditioner.

3. Moisturize your scalp daily. Try a homemade moisturizing spray made with ¾ cup of water, ¼ cup of natural oils (almond, avocado, jojoba, and olive oil is best), and 20 to 25 drops of soothing essential oils like lavender, ylang-ylang, tea tree, or peppermint oils.

4. Cover your hair with a silk-like scarf/bonnet or a hair net with large holes while you sleep for protection.

5. Maintain your general health by eating foods rich in Omega-3 fats, Vitamins A and C, and the Mineral Zinc. Drink plenty of water, exercising regularly, and manage stress.

When you take care of yourself, you can feel good on the inside and keep your hair looking good on the outside. If you want to know more about how to braid then Click Here to see this amazing video.
